Firefox Goes for World Download Record

Posted in: Uncategorized |

“For the upcoming release of Firefox, Mozilla is preparing Download Day 2008: a campaign to set a world record for the most software downloaded in 24 hours. Participants are asked to pledge to download Firefox 3 on the day that it’s launched. The exact date hasn’t been scheduled yet, but everything seems on track for June.”

Firefox is a replacement browser for Internet Explorer. It has many more features, usability, bugs and a whole lot more secure than Internet Explorer. Its also much faster. There are thousands of plugins and themes for it which makes it the most customizable web browser available. Best of all its completely FREE.

Right now Firefox stable is at version 2.0 however in the near future the stable version of Firefox 3.0 will be out. It is said that its going to be the greatest web browser ever! I’ve looked at the beta it is simply beautiful. I can’t way for 3.0

Please go to Spread FireFox right now and hit the pledge button to get notified when the new version is available so it can break the world record.

For our customers, we will almost always recommend Firefox when you have spyware on your computer as Firefox helps protect you.  If you would like us to install it for you, just give us a call.

Voicemails

Computer Life SupportThe one thing I can’t figure out in this business. Why do people take the time out of their busy day to leave us messages and submit computer problems, but when we return their call. People don’t answer. We leave a voicemail and never hear back. Most of the time when you call your going to get a live person that answers right away, some times you may have to leave a messages because everyone is on the phone. We always try to call back within 30 minutes or less.

We are here to help you, if you find someone else to work on your computer then please tell us, and make a suggestion on how we can better assist you in the future.

I’m not saying this happens a lot but it does happen and its something I can’t wrap my mind around.  Please comment and tell us why.

Free Online Backup

Posted in: hard drive recovery |

Computer Life Support has decided to give away 2 gb of free online backup to all of our new customers.  We feel that data backup is one of the most important things to have on your computer.  Most people don’t realize that everything on their computer could be lost in an instant and most companies besides us charge an arm and a leg for data recovery.  Don’t let a hard drive crash lose all your imporant pictures, movies and documents.   2 gb enough for most people’s needs.  Best of all, its totally free when we work on your computer.   To get this great deal you must mention “Free online backup” when you talk to us.  Even if we only work on your computer for an hour, you still get the backup for free.

We have a couple new techs trained.  I just want to let everyone know that if someone answers the phone that sounds a little nervous and doesn’t have all the answers right away then they are most likely new to us.  The same goes for our new onsite techs.  Don’t worry they are all backed up by us and you will still get the same customer service that we so proudly have.

Vista Problems

Posted in: Vista |

Some users have experienced an audio driver problem after installing Service Pack #1 on their Windows Vista computers.

A Dell Digital Life Liason said, “Should you see this update appear, *do not* install it.”

Many users from the Dell customer forum who installed it says that they see a “Code 10? error after rebooting.

Those who use Windows Vista on an Apple machine using Boot Camp may also be affected. One of the posts at the Apple Boot Camp discussion forum says, “I have a MacBook Pro with SigmaTel sound card, and I was stupid enough to install this update. After installation, sound is gone and Windows started to say ‘no audio output device.’”

“How is it that we obviously cannot trust Microsoft to provide fully tested software pushed by Windows Update?” asked community member Per Nermo from Oslo, Norway, in a Thursday forum post.
